‘Queer Eye’ star designs new Triangle community. Get the price point, other details.

For eight seasons, Bobby Berk graced TV screens as part of the Fab Five on Netflix’s “Queer Eye,” transforming living spaces for the show’s “heroes” with a touch of glam.

Now, the interior designer is bringing his signature style to a new 102-townhome development on the Durham-Chapel Hill border.

After leaving the show in 2023, Berk signed onto a multi-year deal with California-based homebuilder Tri Pointe Homes and has designed the interiors of its new subdivision, Twinleaf Townes, currently under construction at 1012 Zelkove Lane.

Described as a “blue-chip” location at the intersection of Interstate 40 and Farrington Road, it sits in Durham County but comes with a Chapel Hill postal address. Both UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University are about a 10-minute drive.

“I was truly inspired by the beautiful surroundings in the Triangle,” Berk said in a news release. “[It] influenced the designs to evoke peacefulness and serenity.”

It’s the first community Berk has designed in the Triangle and features his “BB Edit” collections, like “textural neutral, updated traditional, and serene Scandinavian.” It also offers the “Get the Look” shop, a library of hand-picked home furnishings and furniture pieces that can be purchased separately.

Three model homes will open in March 2025. Tri Pointe Homes said Berk is expected to be in town for the launch, though details have not yet been confirmed.

“I can’t wait for people to explore my designs as part of their homebuying journey,” he said.

Tri Pointe Homes currently has 25 BB Edit neighborhoods across the U.S., with 14 more communities slated nationally.

In 2023, the firm purchased the Twinleaf Townes site — close to 8.5 acres of mostly wooded land along Crescent Drive — for around $5.9 million.

The community will have three- and four-bedroom townhomes ranging from 2,098 to 2,317 square feet. Homebuyers will also have access to Tri Pointe Homes’ Design Studio, featuring its Style Finder quiz.

Prices will start in the $400,000s.

“Collaborating with Bobby Berk allows us to deliver innovative, personalized living spaces that resonate with our customers and community,” said Bob Davenport, division president of Tri Pointe Homes Raleigh.

The community is the latest in a string of investments for the national home construction company, which is currently selling six communities in the Triangle, including Elm Park and Barlow in Raleigh and Townes at Chatham Park in Pittsboro and Tredenham in Durham, with several others in the pipeline.
