The New 'Reacher' S3 Teaser Is a Reminder Why I Need This Show Back In My Life
Fear not, Reacher fans: the big guy is back. In fact, ol' Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) returns to meet his match in a new preview for season 3. Our hero comes face to face with Olivier Ritchers, a 7'2" professional bodybuilder known as "The Dutch Giant." Ritchers is playing a new villain in season 3, following performances in Black Widow and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Who knows what else lies in store for Reacher, but I bet he won't be able to throw Ritchers out of a helicopter this time.
The new trailer (below) reveals that Brian Tee (The Wolverine) will also appear as the new lead villain, a former military officer named Quinn who shares a dark past with Reacher. "I thought I killed him years ago," Reacher says. Our hero's new plan is to go deep undercover into Quinn's business. Reacher? Undercover?! Good luck.
According to Amazon Prime Video, season 3 is based on Lee Child’s seventh Reacher novel, Persuader. The 2003 book, narrated in the first person, sees Reacher go undercover in Boston, "to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past." That means more friends for Reacher—and more information about his mysterious past. Anthony Michael Hall (Bosch: Legacy) is also set to join the cast for season 3 as formidable business and rug importer Zachary Beck, who is suspected of more nefarious schemes.
If you’re just catching up, Reacher is an action-packed series (based on Lee Child's novels) that follows a former military operative who fights crime. In the first season, Reacher was arrested for a murder he didn’t commit. When he’s released from prison, he sets out to find the people who framed him—and uncovers a dark web of local politicians, police, and businessmen. In season 2, Reacher tries to take a step away from investigative work, but is sucked back in when one of his U.S. Army colleagues is murdered.
Since the premiere in 2022, Reacher has amassed a rabid fanbase. Variety reports that season 1 was the first Prime Video series to top the Nielsen charts. According to Deadline, the first three episodes of the second season surpassed the entire first season audience by over 50%. Yowza.

When Will Season 3 of Reacher Debut?
Reacher season 3 will premiere with three episodes beginning on 20 February, 2025. The series is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, where the remaining five episodes will roll out on a weekly basis.
If eight episodes doesn't sound like enough Reacher in the new year, don't worry because Prime Video already renewed the series for season 4. "'Reacher' has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season," said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, in an official press release. "We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team."
Who Will Appear in Season Three of Reacher?
One of the only cast members we know will return—barring the surprise of all surprises—is Ritchson. Aside from that, season 2 breakout Maria Sten (Master Sergeant Francis Neagly) will also continue to fight alongside Reacher. Sonya Cassidy (The Man Who Fell To Earth) will also join season 3, according to Deadline, as "an extremely intelligent and tough DEA agent from Boston with a sharp and sarcastic sense of humor" named Sarah Duffy.
Season 2 featured a new cast, focusing largely on figures from Reacher’s past. Sadly, Dixon—Reacher's love interest in season 2—doesn't seem to be returning. Our hero bid her farewell before hopping on another Trailways bus to Boston. Maybe Duffy can replace that hole in his heart? As Reacher prepares to go undercover, season 3 will likely introduce a fresh group of people who won't recognise his face. Buckle up, folks.
