Reba McEntire Jokes 'The Voice' Coaches Are 'Real Mean — Especially Gwen' as She Joins Season 24

"Am I supposed to be like y'all? Be mean to you?" McEntire asked Gwen Stefani, John Legend and Niall Horan in a new promo video

Is The Voice ready for Reba McEntire?

On Tuesday, the country icon appeared in a new promotional video for season 24 of the NBC singing competition series as she nabs a red chair of her own alongside fellow coaches Niall HoranGwen Stefani and John Legend — and so far, she's not sure how she feels about them.

"Am I supposed to like y'all? Be mean to you? is there something that I need to know to let me win?" asked the "Fancy" performer, 68, in the video documenting their first day on set together.

Legend, 44, then chimed in, "You’re supposed to direct all the artists my way," to which McEntire quipped in return, "Your way? What?"

Horan, 30, seemed to get along with both McEntire and Stefani, 53, as the two ladies gushed about his "cute" Irish accent. "Hear that, Shelton?" asked the former One Direction member, referencing the former Voice coach Blake Shelton, who's also the "Hollaback Girl" musician's husband.

Sitting in her red chair later in the video, McEntire spoke about her experience on the show so far. "The blind auditions were so much harder than I thought they were going to be," she said. "They block you, and it’s just so devious — but a lot of fun too!"

Alongside the other coaches, she joked about how they've been getting along. "Everybody’s just as sweet and kind offstage as they can be. When they come on the stage though, they kinda change their personalities," said McEntire, before adding to the camera with a laugh: "They’re real mean — especially Gwen!"

The Voice season 24 will premiere on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

In May, McEntire opened up to PEOPLE about joining the series. "The country lane — I'm taking over for Blake so I'm gonna represent country music. [He's got] big boots. I don't know what size those boots are, but they're big, so I'm gonna really work hard to make him proud," she said of Shelton, 47.

While McEntire is no stranger to the show — she's previously served as a mega mentor multiple times — the Grammy winner said she still had plenty of catching up to do.

"John and Niall [are] all really funny and clever, and always have so many smart things to say, so I've got my work cut out for me," said McEntire. "I'm most excited about basically getting started, and I'm sure that I'll have lots of help, lots of advice, lots of people coming around saying, 'You can do this. You can do that.' And I'm not afraid at all. I think it'll be a very fun adventure."
