San Luis Obispo County celebrated Independence Day on Tuesday with a host of festivities, including parades, pancake breakfasts and fireworks shows.

The two biggest parades took place in Templeton and Cayucos. The latter also held its annual sand sculpture contest.

Other Fourth of July fun included a procession for dressed-up dogs in Avila Beach and a pie-eating contest and other old-fashioned games in Cambria.

Four professional pyrotechnic displays were planned to cap off the night, in Pismo Beach, Cayucos, Cambria and Paso Robles.
