Reese Witherspoon's Ex Jim Toth Is Making Huge Amounts of Money Amid Their Divorce

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth are divorcing after almost 12 years of marriage, and they're both walking away from the split fully loaded. Gonna go ahead and assume that "conscious uncoupling" is out and "financially savvy uncoupling" is v much in, because Reese and Jim have been quietly preparing for their split for years. Like, these two started offloading their properties as far back as 2020 and sold their co-owned company for almost $1 billion in 2021. As a result, Jim is rich and getting richer, so let's take a closer look at his net worth.

Reese's Ex Pocketed $$$ From Hello Sunshine's Sale

Reese's production company Hello Sunshine was sold for a not-at-all casual $900 million back in 2021, according to Variety. And her slice of that pie? An estimated $120 million after taxes, which...holy shit. However! According to Us Weekly, Reese actually co-owned Hello Sunshine with Jim—and the company's 2021 sale helped keep things easy-peasy in their 2023 divorce. As a source told Us, “Instead of having to split up a huge company with dozens of employees and several divisions, they have a big pile of money—and there’s plenty for everybody."

He's Made Millions in Real Estate Over the Past 3 Years

On top of selling Hello Sunshine, Jim and Reese have been divesting themselves of several properties they co-own. According to Us Weekly, they sold a Malibu farmhouse for over $6 million in November 2020, an L.A. "manor" for $21.5 million in March 2020, and a Nashville mansion for $7.35 million in October 2022. They're also in the process of selling a Malibu property for $7.6 million.

Here's a peek into one of their L.A. homes from Reese's 73 Questions back in 2014:

Jim Was a Top Hollywood Agent

Jim Toth was head of motion picture talent at Creative Artists Agency and had some massively famous clients including Matthew McConaughey. It's unclear what his salary was, but according to Comparably, "the most compensated executive makes $700,000" at CAA so...gonna assume a lot?

Either way, Jim left CAA in 2019 and ended up becoming the Head of Content Acquisitions and Talent at the now-defunct streaming service Quibi (RIP friend, we hardly knew ye) and has since been spending his time on various boards—including that of Draper James, Reese's clothing brand.

So What Is Jim Toth's Total Net Worth?

Celebrity Net Worth reports he has $20 million in the bank, but it's unclear how recently their information was updated—and it's unclear if that number includes money he made from the sale of Hello Sunshine or the recent sales of his and Reese's multiple properties.

Also unclear? (1) why I don't have $20 million, and (2) if Reese and Jim will continue to work closely together since he's technically still a founding board member at Hello Sunshine and Draper James. But their joint Instagram statement implies the vibes are pretty drama free!

In case you missed it, they wrote, “It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together. Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

As for why these two are divorcing? Reports vastly differ, so go ahead and dive into all the "sources" speaking out below (theories range from midlife crisis to a lack of romance....):
