A Remote 130-Acre Estate in British Columbia Can Be Yours for $15 Million
The name of this outdoorsy retreat in British Columbia is a bit of a misnomer.
Dubbed “Little Wolf,” the actually massive property sits on a whopping 130 acres of woodlands secluded in the Great Bear Rainforest. The main house, referred to in marketing materials as a “wooden castle,” includes eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, and while it’s being marketed as a family home, it has in the past operated as a luxury resort. The $15.1 million listing is held by Annette Cosens at Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.

An artistic family designed the home to their creative specifications, taking their inspiration from traditional German and European craftsmanship. The wooden details throughout are made from hand-selected old-growth red and yellow cedar logs, and they appear literally everywhere, from the exterior to the staircase railings. The hand-carved front door leads you into the foyer, where the resort’s check-in desk still sits. The floors are a mix of Brazilian Blue Azul and Black Galaxy granite tile with a white quartz pebble river that meanders through to the foyer and into the adjoining living room, which is centered around a fireplace that dates back to 11th-century Burgundy.

BBecause of the property’s history as a hotel, there are specific features that some may opt to remove to keep and renovate to their liking. That includes a small wet bar, a breakfast bar, and an industrial catering kitchen. The partially finished basement could be turned into a media room or gym. And there’s ample deck and balcony space for taking in the fresh air. You can also post up on the shore along the Skeena River, which is prized for its salmon and steelhead, or try your hand at catching some fish.
While the property is smack dab in the middle of the woods, it’s just a short skip and a jump from Vancouver. Take an hour and 20-minute flight from the city to Terrace, then either a 20-minute drive or, since Little Wolf comes with its own helipad, an even faster and more scenic heli-transfer. And although it would make for an ample family home, the estate could also be developed into a corporate retreat or, if you feel more like honing your hotelier chops, retained as a boutique resort.
