Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Customers can buy whiskey by the barrel through the newly launched Beam Private Barrel Club as the Kentucky bourbon distiller celebrates its 230th anniversary in 2025.

The James B. Beam Distilling Company of Clermont, Ky., announced the private barrel club on Tuesday so customers can buy and personalize a barrel of bourbon or rye whiskey.

"The Beam Private Barrell Club is something we've been working on for years," eighth-generation master distiller Freddie Noe said. "As we celebrate the 230th year of Jacob Beam selling his first barrel, we want to commemorate this milestone by further welcoming whiskey lovers ... to own a barrel, exclusively on their own."

"During this one-of-a-kind selection experience, consumers will have the unique opportunity to head deep into the rackhouses at the Clermont campus in Kentucky, where generations of master distillers have famously hand-selected the very best bourbon for more than two centuries," Jim Beam officials said.

The distiller's Knob Creek brand of bourbon is available for customers who visit the Clermont location to explore the variations of single barrels and the effects of their respective locations in the rackhouse, environmental factors and the characteristics of individual barrels affect the bourbon's flavor while aging.

"In these historic spaces, where nearly 19 million barrels of bourbon and rye have ages more than two centuries, guests now have the chance to carve out their own piece of American whiskey history," distillery officials said.

Those interesting in the promotion can request a booking time online and await contact from one of the distiller's legacy ambassadors.

A legacy ambassador will escort club participants through the distillery on their scheduled visitation day while they learn about the company's founding in 1795 and its history during a private and curated tour.

After completing the tour, club members can sample a selection of single-barrel bourbons or ryes and choose their favorite.

Once a barrel is selected, the distillery will bottle its contents in exclusive bottles with personalized labels that accommodate up to 41 unique characters.

The distillery will contact each club member after the bottling process is done so they can pick up and pay for their bottled barrel of bourbon or rye whiskey.

Jim Beam's Clermont campus is located in Clermont, which is about 27 miles south of Louisville.
