Rent the Runway Gifting Free Memberships to Los Angeles Fire Victims
The designer clothing rental company is offering 10,000 victims of the L.A. wildfires a free two-month membership to its subscription service
Fashion rental company Rent the Runway is donating thousands of dollars worth of clothing to the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, the rental company announced that it would be giving out free memberships to people who were impacted by devastating L.A. wildfires that have caused hundreds of homes around the county to burn down.
"To the L.A. community, We're gifting free RTR memberships to anyone who lost their homes," the company wrote in an Instagram post shared Thursday. "Getting dressed is the last thing you want to think about."
Rent the Runway allows customers to rent designer clothing items online and purchase some clothing items at a discount. The company also offers a subscription service, in which members can order boxes of either 5 or 10 clothing items, try them out and send them back, with the option of being able to purchase what they like.
"Additionally, we are donating thousands of items to the YMCA of L.A. so locals can take what they need and start re-building their wardrobe," the company added on Instagram, noting that subscription members who have been displaced or evacuated from their homes can text 69787 to stop their orders, reroute items to a new address, or let the company know about items that were lost in the fires.
"Share this post with whomever you know that has been impacted, as we'd love to help as many people as possible," the company finished their post, noting that anyone interested can apply using a form on their social media page. "Stay safe, L.A."
The company also clarified that they will be donating up to 10,000 codes for a two-month subscription as a part of this program.
