A restaurant concept new to Middle Georgia takes roost in Warner Robins. See inside

A new Southern-inspired, quick-service restaurant with the catch phrase “chicken worth crossing the road for” can be found inside a Speedway in Warner Robins near Interstate 75.

Raise the Roost Chicken & Biscuits offers made from scratch, hand-breaded chicken at “prices below what you’ll find at other fried chicken establishments,” according to its website.

It’s a restaurant concept that’s new to Warner Robins and Middle Georgia from 7-Eleven, the largest global convenience retail store chain that acquired Speedway from Marathon Petroleum Corporation in May 2021.

Lora and William Gilmore of Byron stopped for gas and breakfast Thursday but arrived after the 10:30 a.m. cutoff for breakfast. But a Raise the Roost server who took their order for chicken biscuits went the extra mile.

“He was nice enough to make them for us,” said Lora Williams, who planned to return the next day with her granddaughter.

Dana Tomlinson of Byron ordered a big tender box meal for $5.99 plus tax after trying free samples of chicken tenders that she said were “tender and spicy.”

The big tender box meal includes two chicken tenders, two small sides, a biscuit and a 7-11 big gulp drink. Tomlinson chose mac and cheese and potato wedges for her sides.
