Riley Keough might have one of the most famous families in show business – her mother is Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, after all – but it’s also a well-known fact that she counts a handful of pretty A-list contacts in her phone book as some of her closest friends.

In her recent interview for ELLE UK’s December/January 2024 issue, the actor opened up about her former band with fellow actor and friend Dakota Johnson. The pair met as teens at a branch of In-N-Out and formed a band called Folky Porn, which has gained popularity in recent years despite the pair's decision to swap the microphone for film scripts.

‘It’s so funny,’ she began. 'People are obsessed with Folky Porn and now I’m thinking that maybe we slept on a massive duo. Folky Porn only covered three songs, over and over. I don’t really remember what they were, but I think they were all folk bands.’

On the prospect of the band reforming, she added: ‘We’d make more folk music.’

Elsewhere, Keough discussed what her famous friends would be in charge of at a dinner party, if she were to host. ‘Dakota would set the table, pick the things out, make everything look nice, and pick the flowers. Kristen [Stewart] would cook and pick the food. Zoë [Kravitz] would definitely help cook. Zoë makes a very good tapioca. I would request that. Zoë would maybe also choose the music as well,' she said.

Keough first made her film debut in a supporting part in the musical biopic The Runaways, portraying Marie Curriek, opposite Stewart, and has since gone on to star in projects such as The Good Doctor, Magic Mike, Mad Max: Fury Road, and more. One of her most standout roles came via Amazon Prime’s Daisy Jones & The Six in 2023, in which she played the titular role in a fictional band during the 1970s.

‘We had so much fun making that show,’ Keough said of the project. ‘So we’d definitely be up for some kind of spin off. I don’t think I particularly have the ability to write music, so I don’t think I have a future in music. I don’t see that for myself. But I definitely would sing or make music if it was required for a role.

‘When you play a character, I definitely take things from all of them,’ she added of how aspects of lead singer Daisy Jones’ character have stayed with her since filming wrapped. ‘I don’t think they’re things I necessarily have a way to explain. It’s an essence that becomes a part of you in a way.’

Elsewhere Keough talks about her love of suburbia, changing fashion trends and visiting Presley's Graceland with her family.
