Rita Ora’s new 'petite French bob' will be summer 2024’s biggest beauty trend

Like Nicki Minaj, one celebrity known for 'the bob' (IYKYK) is Rita Ora – and by bob, we mean the infamous haircut trend that has taken social media by storm. So much so that it's culminated with its own 'f*ck ass bob' convention... but hey, that's a story for a different day.

Now, while we loved (pre the past tense here, folks) Rita's bob that arrived on our feeds just short of a few months ago, it's actually her brand new trim that has us re-falling in love with the shorter 'do. Enter: The petite French bob.

Taking to the launch of her very own haircare brand, TypeBea, over the weekend Rita revealed a bouffant style of the cropped look that sits between ear and chin-length. Scroll through the nine-part carousel post below to see all that we're gushing over.

Whether achieved via a pre-season haircut or clever styling techniques, this shorter lengthened bob is one that we know is going to be big for summer 2024. I mean, if Rita is rocking it, you best believe we will be, too.

Last season, hairstylist and trend forecaster Tom Smith predicted the sharp new offering – aka, what he coined: 'Le petit bob' – as one of winter 2023/24's biggest hair trends. And proving its longevity and timeless feel, the cut still reigns supreme for this year's spring/summer szns. Impressive, much?

"This style might be as tiny as a bob can go before it becomes a totally new shape. It's the sassy sister of the 'French girl bob' and can be a great option for those growing out a crop," Tom previously explained to Cosmopolitan UK.

And if, like me, your hair is on the finer side of textures or has even thinned out over time, this cut is perfect for increasing the visual thickness and bulk of your hair.

"The trick to achieving this nano length is to graduate slightly at the nape of the neck," Tom says. "We have to lift the hair above the natural hairline to create a shorter length around the face; The shorter the hair, the straighter and more side parted it should become to retain the 'bob' feeling."

So, there you have it! As predicted, the evolution of the bob trend this upcoming summer szn will be all about angles and contours. Rita Ora, eat your heart bob out.
