Get romantic at Waffle House: Valentine's Day reservations offer dimmed lights and tablecloths

Looking to eat breakfast for dinner on the most romantic day of the year? Waffle House has you covered.

More than 200 locations across the country are taking reservations for Valentine's Day, when they'll dim the lights, break out the tablecloths and candles, and offer up some special menu items.

Waffle House, known for its breakfast-heavy diner food and bright yellow sign, is famously open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but Valentine's Day is the only day when it takes reservations.

The tradition began at a Waffle House in John's Creek, Georgia. Because so many customers spent Valentine's Day at the restaurant every year, the manager decided to decorate to make the experience "extra special," according to Southern Living.

"Who needs a girlfriend when you have your special lady at the Waffle House," the diner chain wrote on X, formerly Twitter, Wednesday morning.

"Valentine's Day is about spending time with the one you love at a place you love," Jessica Kinskey, a former Waffle House spokesperson, said in a 2020 news release. "And it's even better when you can do that without spending a lot of money." Waffle House did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment.

Certain Waffle House restaurants are accepting Valentine's Day reservations in 22 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
