In Rome, a Historic Villa That Starred in “The Equalizer 3” Is Listed at $5.5 Million

This Italian villa is ready for its next starring role. Nestled in Rome’s prestigious Nomentano district, the palatial estate offers a rare glimpse into the city’s rich history. Built in 1925, the late Art Nouveau mansion is a timeless example of early 20th-century elegance, featuring impressive architectural features such as mullioned windows, delicate wrought ironwork, and sweeping colonnades. And, due its stately appearance, the 10,700-square-foot abode has been much more than just a home.

It was highlighted in art historian Irene De Guttry’s 2009 book Il villino a Roma. Il quartiere Nomentano and once operated as an office for the Selvaggi law firm. In addition, the property has also served as a backdrop for major films and advertising campaigns. Productions like Angelina Jolie’s 2024 film Without Blood, along with The Equalizer 3, starring Denzel Washington, La Scuola Cattolica, and La Stranezza have all taken advantage of the villa’s cinematic charm.

An enfilade of reception rooms adds a sense of grandeur to the 11,000-square-foot home.

On the market for €5.1 million (or $5.5 million) with Savills, the villa’s roughly 10,000-square-foot garden is a true retreat, dotted with ancient trees including pines, cypresses, and holm oaks. These trees, part of the original landscape design of the neighboring Villa del Cardinal Alberoni, not only provide privacy but enhance the property’s historical allure. The towering pines are particularly striking, creating a natural boundary that separates the estate from the bustling streets beyond. Tucked within the garden is also a small independent building, which can be adapted to suit a variety of needs, from a private annex to a garage.
