Rosamund Pike Honors 'Saltburn' and Her Skiing Injury With a Chic Pillbox Hat and Veil

On Sunday, Rosamund Pike wore Christian Dior Couture for her red carpet walk to the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills. The actress co-starred in 2023’s Saltburn, and was nominated in the Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture category. Her all-black ensemble, from the brand’s fall-winter 2019 collection, featured a classic wide skirt and narrow waist, with lace overlay that traveled up the sleeveless bodice and across her décolletage and arms.

The look included a pillbox hat and matching veil, which perched on Pike’s updo for a striking red carpet moment. She further accessorized with a pair of black open-toe platform heels and some statement rings.

In an interview with Variety’s Marc Malkin, Pike revealed her face shield was about more than fashion.

“It’s a protective veil for the occasion,” she explained. “I had a [skiing] accident over Christmas.”

She added, “Not what you want knowing you’re coming to the Golden Globes on the 7th of January.”

The accident, which happened on December 26, left her face “entirely smashed up,” according to Pike.

She said she thought, “I need to do something.”

Happily, the injuries have “healed,” which the star admitted after Malkin pointed out she was looking flawless as always. She decided to keep the hat anyways.

“I kind of fell in love with the look,” she explained. She also admitted that the outfit honored her character in Saltburn, the upper crust Lady Elspeth Catton. Malkin pointed out that the aristocrat would probably approve of a dramatic veil, and Pike agreed, saying, “Well, you know, you have to channel it don’t you? Either a sort of weird funeral vibe or maybe she wore black for her wedding.”

Pike was styled by Leith Clark, and celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis worked on her skincare and coverup for added perfection.
