Royal Expert Claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "Still Hope" They Can Return to Part-Time Royal Duties
The royals are currently dealing with multiple health crises that have vastly reduced the the amount of engagements they can attend—and there's been speculation that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could step in to help.
Quick refresher: Harry's reportedly expressed that he's willing to take on official duties to help out his dad, but a source previously told The Mirror that there's "no chance" Prince William would let Harry back into the fold.
“Whatever has been discussed between William and the King is private, but it is absolutely and categorically clear that he (William) would not allow Harry to return," the source explained. "He thought it was a bad idea at the time and he’s even more clear now. If anyone is going to take on more duties it will be William and that isn’t even on the agenda for now. His main focus is on his father’s health, his family and what is best for the monarchy. There is a zero percent chance Harry is coming back in any capacity.”
Flash-forward to now, and royal author / expert Tom Quinn tells The Mirror that "Both Meghan and Harry still hope that at some point they might be asked back to become working royals on their own terms–it's a rapidly shrinking possibility, but the couple have talked about this at length and the fact that senior Royal numbers are seriously down at the moment has rekindled their hopes."
Quinn adds, "As I understand it from Palace contacts, they are kidding themselves if they think they will be invited back in any way."
Prince Harry appears to be on decent terms with his father King Charles, but apparently the ice hasn't exactly thawed on his relationship with Prince William so...seems unlikely he'd make a return to royal duties at this point!
