The case couldn't be more true for the Buckingham Palace-approved brand Barbour. Not only have Barbour jackets been spotted on the who's-who of royals over the past 30-something years (we're talking Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, and Queen Elizabeth herself) but the British heritage brand has actually earned three Royal Warrants commending its high-quality designs.
If you're looking to upgrade your spring wardrobe with one of these iconic coats, scroll below to shop some of our favourites, including the lightweight Flyweight Quilted Jacket (shop here in the U.S., here in Canada) that's been called "my new favourite jacket" by Nordstrom shoppers.
The British heritage brand has earned the royal seal of approval — and for good reason. With elegant diamond quilting and burnished goldtone hardware, this lightweight Barbour jacket is a spring staple for any wardrobe, royal or otherwise.
The lightweight coat features roomy snap-closure pockets at the front with enough room for your cards, phone, and keys and is available in three colours at Nordstrom U.S. and one colour at Nordstrom Canada. However, the stock is flying off the (virtual) shelves, so you'll want to act quickly if you want to take one home.
Why shoppers love it
Keeping in company with Queen Elizabeth, the Barbour brand has earned the seal of approval from Nordstrom shoppers, with users commenting the Flyweight Quilted coat is the "perfect spring jacket."
"It's lightweight, has a good length and simple, classy styling — no overwhelming buckles, buttons, or zippers," writes one shopper. "It's hard to beat Barbour quality, and for the price, this is a deal!"
"I love this jacket. It's perfect for in-between weather. It is very light and it's really easy to pack for just a little warmth at night," says another user. "I'm 62, so even though it is a very young-looking jacket, I think it easily spans the ages!!"
It's the "perfect spring jacket," writes a third shopper. It's "not boxy, and shows off your waist."
However, one thing to note: a handful of shoppers note the jacket (and the brand, in general) runs large.
I sized up and it "fits like a glove and is very flattering and feminine," however, "it leaves very little room for anything underneath and the neck is almost too tight."
"I am normally a size 8, but I ordered up to a size 10, and I'm glad I did," writes another shopper.
