Ryan Gosling couldn't stop talking about Ryan Reynolds at the Golden Globes

It seems even though Ryan Gosling is now a Golden Globe-winning actor, he can't escape comparison with another famous Canadian Ryan... Reynolds that is. Not that he minds entirely.

At Sunday night's Golden Globes, the 36-year-old actor couldn't help but joke about being in the same room as the Deadpool star, especially after he beat out Reynolds for top honours.

Taking to the stage to accept his Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture statue for La La Land, the star joked that perhaps the Hollywood Foreign Press had got him mixed up with his Canadian counterpart.

“This isn’t the first time I’ve been mistaken for Ryan Reynolds, but it’s getting out of hand,” he quipped about his fellow nominee. “Ryan, obviously there’s been some kind of mistake, but I’m up here if you don’t mind.”

Ryan joked that the trophy was intended for Ryan Reynolds.

Of course the camera panned to Reynolds who was smiling and laughing in a way that showed he understood what Gosling was talking about.

Prior to the ceremony, ET caught up with the Blade Runner star to ask him how he felt being in one of the night's tightest races.

“You know, I’m just happy that [Ryan Reynolds and I] are in the same room for once, so people can see that we’re different people,” he explained, adding, “I’ll take that as a win.”

It makes sense that folks could confuse the two A-list talents as they have a ton in common.

They're both Canadian (Reynolds is from Vancouver while Gosling is from London, Ont.).

They're both tied to two beautiful women: Reynolds to Blake Lively and Gosling to Eva Mendes.

And they both have two daughters. While Reynolds is a proud papa to James, nearly 2, and Ines, a few months old, Gosling is dad to Esmeralda Amada, 2, and Amada Lee, about six months old.

The Ryans made quite the duo at the Critics' Choice Awards in December.

The last time the duo was spotted together was at December's Critics' Choice Awards, where they hugged and posed for photographs that, of course, instantly went viral.

Though it wasn't the first time the two Ryans had met, it had been a while since their last pairing. Back in 2005 at the Teen Choice Awards, Reynolds presented the Movie Chemistry award to Gosling and his then-girlfriend and Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams.
