This Ryan Reynolds Movie Just Broke Netflix’s Opening Weekend Record & Is the #1 Movie on the Platform
What happens when Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot come together for a Netflix film? The flick not only becomes the number one movie on the platform but also breaks the record for its biggest movie opening weekend ever.
Called Red Notice, the drama tells the story of a daring heist that brings together the FBI’s top agent (Johnson) and two rival criminals (Gadot and Reynolds). According to Deadline, the film, which was released on November 12, has accumulated over 148.7 million hours watched, breaking the opening weekend record for any Netflix film.
(We can't say we’re surprised, considering the all-star cast and audience score of 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.) Watch the trailer below.
Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “When an Interpol-issued Red Notice—the highest level warrant to hunt and capture the world’s most wanted—goes out, the FBI’s top profiler John Hartley is on the case. His global pursuit finds him smack dab in the middle of a daring heist where he’s forced to partner with the world’s greatest art thief Nolan Booth in order to catch the world’s most wanted art thief, ‘The Bishop.’ The high-flying adventure that ensues takes the trio around the world, across the dance floor, trapped in a secluded prison, into the jungle and, worst of all for them, constantly into each other’s company.”
Red Notice is directed and written by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence, Skyscraper) and produced by Hiram Garcia, Johnson and Dany Garcia. Gadot, Reynolds and Johnson are joined by Ritu Arya and Chris Diamantopolous.
Our Wednesday night just got more interesting.
