Sabrina Carpenter's denim hotpants bikini is giving ’70s beach babe
ICYMI, it's officially the summer of sports and fashion insiders are getting in on the look. From Kendall Jenner taking in the Paris Olympics to Zendaya attending Wimbledon to the football jersey trend that's got us in a chokehold. But, if that's really not your vibe, there's plenty of new music releases (and the accompanying promo from our fave artists that goes with) to keep you busy instead.
We're talking about Katy Perry and her upcoming album 143, alongside Sabrina Carpenter whose sixth studio album Short n' Sweet is set to land this month (!!). In honour of the approaching date – specifically, 23 August BTW so mark your calendars – the former Cosmo UK cover star took to Instagram to share a new post and we *need* to talk about her attire.
Specifically, a teeny tiny denim bikini. Is this the introduction of the jikini? Ya know, in the same train of thought as jorts.
Consisting of a dark wash two-piece set, Sabrina's swimwear featured a classic triangle top with exposed stitching paired with coordinating bikini bottoms cut in a low-rise, hotpant, micro swim short style. The retro silhouette and denim wash were giving major '70s beach babe vibes, exaggerated by Sabrina's old-school blonde blow-dry with her voluminous side fringe having easily become her signature trait. She accessorised the vintage look with a small gold heart-shaped pendant choker necklace (just visible beneath her chin in the snap) and her favourite ‘SC’ initial ring.
Her fans were loving the look, taking to the comments section to write, ‘Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake walked so Sabrina Carpenter could run’ in reference to the duo's iconic matching denim looks at the 2001 AMA Awards. Another follower added, ‘serving looks in the jikini’.
