San Francisco Pride Parade 2024: Route, date, time and where to watch

June is Pride Month, and cities around the U.S. are hosting parades and other events to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, its history and continuing fight for equal rights.

Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a prominent gay bar in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. The subsequent protests are credited with a shift in LGBTQ+ activism in the U.S.

San Francisco was one of the first cities to hold an annual pride event, with the "Gay Liberation March" held in June 1970. The event has since grown, now known as San Francisco Pride. This parade, with the theme "Beacon of Love," will be held June 30.

Here's what you'll need to know about catching the pride parade in San Francisco this year.
