Sarah Jessica Parker had a throwback Baguette moment at Fendi's show
Any Sex and the City fan worth their salt will know the significance of a Fendi Baguette. A signature silhouette of the Italian brand, the shoulder bag became the 'It' accessory of the Nineties thanks to Carrie Bradshaw, arguably becoming as synonymous with the fashionably chaotic character as her extensive collection of Manolo Blahniks.
There was a scene where Bradshaw was robbed at gunpoint, correcting the robber when he refers to her Baguette as a bag. Then there is the infamous episode where Samantha buys a Fendi knock-off in L.A, only to make a scene by accusing someone of stealing it at a Playboy mansion party. The iconic 'stolen' Baguette even makes a reappearance in the more recent Sex and the City spin off And Just Like That over 20 years later, showcasing its enduring style and long-term devotion shared by Baguette loyalists.
Now, Sarah Jessica Parker has rekindled her relationship with the iconic Fendi design, just over 25 years since its first release. The actress attended the Italian house's autumn/winter 2025 show this week, sporting a cross-body version of the Baguette embellished with acetate shapes and crystal clusters in what appears to be a new iteration of the classic design. Parker styled the candy floss-hued satin bag with a more neutral ensemble consisting of a striped brown dress with a curled hem, a forest green coat and olive knee-high boots.
The Baguette has enjoyed a blooming renaissance since the late 2010s, when Fendi responded to Nineties nostalgia by reissuing past designs. Alongside contributing to their lions share of the resale market, the brand has brought back the beloved silhouette in more recent collections, including the classic FF logo design, embroidered patterns and, to the delight of Sex and the City fans, a purple sequin-laden Baguette that looks remarkably close to its original Nineties cousin.
