Sarah Raven launches new designer dahlia range with Cath Kidston
The worlds of fashion, floristry, and design combine in Sarah Raven's latest launch.
The gardener, writer and broadcaster has just unveiled The Collective – a dahlia collection handpicked by some of the UK’s celebrated creatives, including Cath Kidston.
So if you’re dreaming of growing your own cut flowers this year, or to refresh your planting scheme, and need some inspiration from the experts, look no further.
Cath Kidston along with royal florist Shane Connolly, fashion designer Savannah Miller, floral designer Milli Proust, and florist Willow Crossley each selected their favourite dahlia varieties to bring a distinctive style and colour palette to the table (and your vase) – to create five distinctive collections.
Whether you’re drawn to bold, nostalgic blooms or soft, romantic tones, you can grow the arrangement yourself by purchasing the tubers as a collection, starting from £24 for four.
It’s an experience that combines the joy of gardening with a touch of designer flair – and one you can easily try yourself.
Each collection varies too – as they reflect the personalities of their creators.
Savannah Miller’s bridal-inspired blooms exude elegance and femininity, while Shane Connolly’s selection focuses on pollinator-friendly single dahlias that celebrate sustainability. Willow Crossley’s wild, seasonal arrangements bring a sense of natural beauty, and Cath Kidston’s cheerful and nostalgic collection bursts with bold colour and charm.
Cath described her experience creating a collection, particularly choosing variations of her two favourite plants, dahlias and pelargoniums, as “absolute heaven!"
While Savannah says the joy of working with dahlias has been transformative: "I found myself spending a lot more time in my garden this year and was particularly inspired by dahlias — they bring me so much joy!” she says.
“I have always loved the combinations of pinks with yellows and oranges.”
"The Collective has been a really fun and exciting project over the last year,” Sarah says.
“I thoroughly enjoyed working with friends old and new to select dahlia collections that reflect each person’s way of gathering beautiful things together."
