Charli D’Amelio has been on more hair journeys than your average beauty obsessive. The dancer, social media personality, and Broadway star cycled through waist-grazing waves and jaw-skimming chops, dabbled with blue strands and icy platinum, and experimented enough to know what truly works for her. Yet, one cut has remained a constant through every phase: the bob.
Lately, though, it’s less about the chop itself and more about making sure her hair stays healthy, and she’s doubling down on this priority by partnering with Cerave. “This is the first time that I’m really focusing on my hair health and my scalp health,” D’Amelio tells me. Curating a routine that prioritizes moisture, she names CeraVe’s Anti-Dandruff Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner as her new go-to’s in her routine.
Her hair may be thriving, but don’t mistake that for wanting to grow it out. “It just never seems to get past this bob part,” Charli tells me. “I do want long hair eventually, but it just never seems to happen. I always end up back at the bob,” Charli says. And honestly? Maybe that’s a sign. Her sleek, swingy bob has become her signature, and she’s sure it’ll look just as good on you—so long as you take care of your scalp. Consider this Charli’s official invite to join the Bobnaissance.
Still, she knows making the cut can be daunting. If you’ve been hovering over the ‘book appointment’ button but can’t quite commit, Charli gets it. “You’re going to not be able to do a lot of stuff with your hair,” she warns. “The only time I think of that is when I want to throw it up in a high bun. But other than that, it’s just really easy.” Translation? Low-maintenance and high-impact.
That ease is a must in Charli’s current routine—especially since, six days a week, her actual hair is tucked away under a wig for her Broadway role in & Juliet. “My hair is mostly in pin curls, so we’re just focusing on not the looks, but keeping my scalp hydrated during the winter,” she says. Her biggest takeaway from this new era of hair care? Listening to what her hair actually needs. “I’ve been washing my hair a little less than normal because I’m finding I can go more time in between,” she explains. “Sometimes, instead of going on a perfect schedule, I just listen to my body.”
Even if the bob is here to stay, Charli’s beauty ethos is all about keeping things fresh—trying new things, seeing what works, and never taking it too seriously. “I don’t think I have any regrets when it comes to hair because I always have the mindset that, you know, it’ll grow back, so it’s fun to experiment,” she says. And if that experiment involves a blunt, chic bob? Even better. Just make sure you prioritize scalp care to keep your hair healthy through every phase. Bob or not.
