See Cracker Barrel's New Decor that Has Fans Divided
Calling all Cracker Barrel lovers! You might not believe your eyes the next time you step foot in your favorite Old Country Store.
Following a difficult economic climate and multiple closings, Cracker Barrel opted to update its rustic country look for a more modern appearance. The renovations are rolling out nationwide, featuring brighter, more open layouts, pass-through bookshelf dividers in place of the traditional knick-knack-lined latticework partitions, cozy leather chairs in place of twig rockers, sound buffering for a quieter dining experience, and more.
“We might have refreshed some things and updated a little bit, but don’t you worry, we’re still Cracker Barrel,” Cracker Barrel District Manager Brent says in a TikTok revealing the updates. “We can’t wait to have you in. Come on in and see us.”
While many long-established chain restaurants, including McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Denny’s, have been working to elevate their decor for the modern day, some Cracker Barrel fans aren’t too pleased about the shift from the nostalgic aesthetic.
“I see what they did to try and keep the appearance but I miss the oil lamps and old fashion physique. I used to feel like I was [going] back in time, now I feel like I’m eating at iHop,” one fan commented on TikTok. “I miss the hanging items and oil lamps,” another fan remarked. “Love the sound barriers but where are the table lanterns?” another fan chimed in.
Like most things, the new Cracker Barrel design is divisive. After all, while some fans of the chain are clinging to its past look (and menu), others are thrilled to welcome a brighter, cleaner, quieter dining option to their weekly round-up.
“I like it! Reminds me of the Paula Dean restaurants—country but clean,” one fan commented. “Love this concept! Hopefully, they renovate them all,” another fan wrote. “I love it! It was so outdated. It looks wonderful,” someone else shared.
