Seeing double? Miniature poodles are best friends, so plan to adopt them as a team

Bixby and Ruek

Breed: Miniature poodles

Age: Bixby, 4, and Ruek, 3

Meet the bonded best friends, Bixby and Ruek. They came from different puppy mill rescues, but the Canine Behavior Center team saw a tight bond so put them together. Now we’re looking at two peas in a pod.

They were very scared initially but have since come out of their shell. They tolerate a little petting, but they like the option to move away and go hang out with each other. They are getting better every day at adapting to new people and new things. They do get along with other low-energy dogs, and they love to play. Mainly, they are enjoying what their life is now that they are able to be the dogs they always could be — just this time with a supportive friend. Are you looking for a couple of new family members? Stop by and meet these two.

Gabby Cat

Gabby Cat

Breed: Domestic shorthair

Age: 5 years old

Gabby Cat is her government name, but she goes by Gabby or Gabs. She was surrendered to a shelter in Tennessee after her owner was no longer able to care for her.

Before Wayside, she spent more than a year in their care. She is more than ready to make the Midwest her home. Adjusting to another shelter was tough, so Gabby was sent to foster to adjust to home life. She’s slowly warmed up to her foster mom and enjoys taking snacks from her and getting pets. When it’s quiet, she loves to come hang out with her, too. Her voice even comes out when she’s feeling confident enough.

Cuddles and Kisses

Breed: Guinea pigs

Cuddles and Kisses are a super sweet pair of bonded guinea pigs that will need to be adopted together. They live in a home with cats and dogs and don’t seem to mind at all (as long as they are respectful). Their favorite activities include snacking on veggies and chewing on toys.

To fill out an adoption application for Kisses and Cuddles go here. Melissa’s Second Chances is a nonprofit animal rescue in Shawnee. The group finds homes and safe refuge for animals in need of a second chance to be beloved family pets.

Wayside Waifs is able to welcome visitors without an appointment. To learn about the adoption process and available animals, visit www.waysidewaifs.org
