Selena Gomez, Halle Bailey, Cate Blanchett: Vote on the best and worst-dressed celebrities of the week
Red carpets were full of bold styles this week, with stars wearing a range of colourful ensembles to major events.
Bold styles, vibrant colours and cozy looks were all the rage amongst celebrity red carpet looks this past week. Between Selena Gomez channelling her inner fall queen to Cate Blanchett wearing a piece reminiscent of candy stripers, some of the fashion we've been seeing recently have ranged from stunning to style misses.
On the good end, stars like Halle Bailey, Cardi B, Jodie Turner-Smith and Tilda Swinton — as well as Gomez — have served up iconic looks that are all worthy of the best dressed prize. But celebrities like Tyla, Naomi Scott, Julianne Moore and Lupita Nyong'o and Blanchett gave us questionable looks.
We want you, Yahoo Canada readers, to cast votes on the best and worst-dressed stars of the week below. From events like movie premieres, the London Film Festival and the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, read more about some of the head-turning red carpet fashion this week — plus share what you think about each ensemble.
BEST DRESSED: Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez cozied up to Schiaparelli at the Netflix Awards Brunch during the 2024 BFI London Film Festival on Sunday. The 32-year-old actress wore a black and white tartan wool ensemble that featured a range of gold buttons. She wore tights and black thigh-high heeled boots for accessories, as well as a middle part in her straight dark hair.
WORST DRESSED: Cate Blanchett
A fashion miss is rare for Cate Blanchett, but the 55-year-old actress didn't hit the mark at the Rumours screening during the 2024 BFI London Film Festival on Sunday. The Australian star wore a matching cropped blazer and pencil skirt from Rochas that featured red and white stripes. The candy striper-like look was the opposite of flattering, while the azure blue buttoned shirt and matching heels didn't do her any favours.
BEST DRESSED: Halle Bailey
Halle Bailey seems to rock anything she wears on a red carpet, and the mustard yellow number she wore to the screening of The Line on Tuesday in New York was full-on chic. The 24-year-old actress wore a body-hugging piece full of sequins, featuring long sleeves that ended in mini trumpet-shaped arms. Her hair was perfectly styled in a natural curl look that added a sense of elegance to the look.
WORST DRESSED: Tyla
Tyla has been blessed with a body that many people would die for, but the look she wore for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday looked unpolished. The hot pink Salihb Balta dress featured an asymmetrical shoulder and enough cut outs where she's exposing half of her body. The 22-year-old singer accessorized with silver strappy heels featuring many gems and a matching silver necklace.
BEST DRESSED: Cardi B
Cardi B, on the other hand, chose a look that looked expensive for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday. The 32-year-old rapper showed off her curves in an all-white look that featured a strapless cutout dress and a heavy fur coat. She wore open-toe heels and gold jewelry, leaving her hair in a stunning old Hollywood style.
WORST DRESSED: Naomi Scott
Naomi Scott can typically make any look shine, but the forest green mini dress she wore to a Smile 2 screening in New York on Wednesday was far from fashionable. The 31-year-old actress' dress featured a mock-neck and cut-off sleeves, as well as a questionable scooped skirt made of a lighter fabric. She accessorized with black tights and snakeskin pattern slingback heels.
BEST DRESSED: Jodie Turner-Smith
Jodie Turner-Smith was the epitome of chic style on Wednesday in New York during the Burberry 57th Street store reopening. The 38-year-old actress wore an off-white ensemble featuring a trench coat and wide-legged pants that had numerous floral cutouts as patterns.
WORST DRESSED: Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore was far from a style queen at photocall for The Room Next Door in Madrid on Wednesday. The 63-year-old actress wore an off-the-shoulder, off-black jacket and brown trousers to the event, accessorizing with black clog-style heels as well as a simple gold and silver necklace.
BEST DRESSED: Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton often looks stunning in ensembles that wouldn't work on many other stars, including this pink tweed Chanel outfit she wore on Wednesday. Attending a photocall for The Room Next Door in Madrid, the 63-year-old actress looked elegant in the matching buttoned shirt and pencil skirt; her look also featured a bolero-style jacket and pink heels embellished with mini wreaths.
WORST DRESSED: Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o opted for an outfit that looked entirely uncomfortable for The Wild Robot gala at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival on Sunday. The 41-year-old actress wore a white long-sleeve top and matching pants to the event. But the standout pieces of her ensemble included a black robot mini handbag and a silver sequin neck piece that resembled a bib more than a scarf.
