Is 'Severance' Coming Back for Season 3?
With how amazing Severance season 2 has been so far, we will completely sever ourselves from reality if the Apple TV+ drama forces audiences to wait under three years for season 3. Thankfully, executive producer Ben Stiller assured viewers that team Severance is already working behind the scenes to put together season 3.
"You have a responsibility to the audience that you’re going somewhere with it," Stiller told Collider just before the season 2 premiere. "That’s always been a part of it for us, really understanding where it’s heading to, and Apple’s been really supportive of that and been sensitive to what the story is and not saying, ‘Okay, this is something that has to keep going as long as it’s successful.’ It should go as long as the story goes, and that’s something we have an idea of, and we’re working towards as we’re starting up our season 3 work."
Apple TV+ has yet to officially confirm that Severance will return for a third season, but it sounds like Stiller and the streamer have an understanding that the streamer is committed to the series. For everything else we know about Severance season 3, read on below.

Plus, what happened to Mark’s wife, Gemma? We’ll learn more as season 2 unfolds throughout February and March.
When Will Severance Season 3 Premiere?
Hopefully, before 2028. After a fantastic first season in early 2022, series creator Dan Erickson and co. spent three years finishing season 2 for a 2025 debut. Several factors led to such a large gap in between seasons, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the SAG-AFTRA strike, and the WGA strike. But according to Erickson, the first season took three years to put together as well.
“I certainly would like it to [take less time],” Erickson told Gizmodo about his plans for season 3. He also added that the only difference between season 1 and season 2’s production time was that viewers “weren’t waiting for it” yet.
“At the same time, you’re always looking to sort of fine-tune the process and take what works and leave what doesn’t work and streamline things,” Erickson continued. “So, my hope is that if there is a season 3, it’s going to be sooner.” Fingers crossed!
