Musician Shawn Mendes is embracing his Canadian roots.

The singer-songwriter took to Instagram over the weekend to share clips of himself engaging in what fans called an "average Canadian activity" — sledding in the snow, shirtless.

Mendes, 25, started the carousel with video, filming himself running up to a house in the snow, wearing nothing but a pair of shorts. He then recorded himself sitting down on a sled and being pushed down a hill by a friend.

"You can take the boy outta Canada," he quipped in the caption.

Another photo in the carousel showed a cozy moment of him playing the guitar by the fire, and another of his friends getting ready for snowshoeing.

Fans adored the candid moments, while some joked about being "horrified" by the coldness coming through their screens.

"But can I take the boy on a date," the official MTV account commented in response to Mendes's caption.

"The Floridian in me is horrified of this," one person wrote, while another added, "How is it possible that I got cold watching this?"

"Now why are you shirtless in the snow... you want hypothermia or something?" a fan questioned.

"What my mom thinks I do before I get a flu," one joked.

Many pointed out how happy the singer looked in the posts. "Seeing you heal makes me so happy," someone said. "This is everything to me you have no idea," another wrote.

Some also noted how cheekily Mendes showed off, with one saying: "the part where he filmed his abs… he knows what he's doing."

Mendes, from Pickering Ont., skipped out on the star-studded 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

He recently opened up about coping with "extreme anxiety" and "fear" by singing alone, from the heart, with his harmonium. He also shared his goals for the new year.

"If I sat down with my harmonium and allowed myself with full trust to sing whatever came out it would often ease the pain...," Mendes captioned the reel.

it felt so difficult at first to let myself sing without needing perfection... i realized there were only moments of bliss and euphoria from the "right" notes because of the "wrong" notes. The only reason I can sing in key is because I've learned to listen," he shared.

"The biggest lesson for me this year has been to accept and welcome the lows of life… Not to constantly need to change or fix something in order to feel high again, because I know if I really slow down and listen when I'm low, there's always something to hear."
