Shocking Video Shows A Coyote Being Pulled Out Of An ALDI Dairy Aisle
"A coyote walks into an ALDI"sounds a lot like the start of a cheesy dad joke, but that's exactly what happened in a Chicago, Illinois ALDI store this week. And lucky for us, the mayhem was caught on camera.
In video first shared by Instagram user @chicagocritterrr, a police officer can be seen poking and prodding around the store's refrigerated section with what appears to be a Swiffer Sweeper. As the officer begins to pull the coyote out by its tail, a man can be heard warning shoppers, "Watch out, guys! Watch out!"
The coyote is then pulled all the way out of the refrigerated section, but quickly make its way back into a stash of veggies. The video cuts off before the ordeal comes to an end, but the user who posted it did confirm that police and animal control were able to safely remove the coyote.
"A coyote in the dairy section of a grocery store was not on my 2025 bingo card but here we are," one person shared on Instagram.
"That Coyote said 'Iām leaving here with something,'" read another comment.
Yet another gave the officer in the video some props: "That cop was raised on some farm SOMEWHERE!!! No protective glove pole nothing just Illinois county boy raised šš"
A number of people were pretty concerned for the safety of the coyote. One user had this to say: "Poor baby. I hope they were able to get him back to his habitat. He looks soo scared."
If you're wondering why a coyote would be spotted in Chicago, no, it's not because of the city's surplus of Michelin star restaurants. According to NBC Chicago, there's been an uptick in coyote incidents because the animals are getting ready for breeding season and that's leading them beyond their normal territories.
And here you thought the most surprising thing about a trip to ALDI was that you have to find a quarter for a shopping cart!
