This shop closed on the Country Club Plaza and has reopened in a Kansas City suburb

Sweet Kiss Brigadeiro has closed its Country Club Plaza location at 213 W. 47th St.

But the Brazilian sweets shop held a grand opening party over the weekend at its new location, inside the Made in KC Marketplace at 860-U N.W. Blue Parkway in Lee’s Summit.

“We already sell some of our desserts and ice cream at the Made in KC on the Plaza, so it didn’t make sense to have two locations there,” said Jessica Harris, who owns the shop with her mother, Regina Antunes.

The Lee’s Summit location is more drink-centric. In addition to selling its handcrafted brigadeiros (which are kind of like truffles) and other pastries, it has a full-service coffee bar and serves wine, beer and cocktails, including its specialty, the caipirinha.

“It’s Brazilian sugar cane, rum, lime and sugar,” Harris said. “It’s a very popular drink in Brazil.”

The mother-daughter pair started Sweet Kiss Brigadeiro in 2015 from their home in Olathe. In 2021, they opened a shop at 421 Nichols Road on the Plaza, later moving to the 47th Street location.

Their desserts are available for order online at sweetkissbrigadeiro.com and can also be found at Cafe Corazon, the local Latin American coffee shop.

Hours at the Lee’s Summit location are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
