It’s freezing in New York City right now, so I simply cannot think about wearing anything other than my cashmere sweaters, wool coats, and thick ponte pants. I most certainly haven’t had sheer-anything on my mind—that is, until I saw Sofía Vergara's latest sexy-unsexy outfit (my own term for it!) that has me re-thinking about how I’m wearing my trusty trousers right now.

Vergara was photographed out and about in the Big Apple herself, wearing a very unseasonal outfit that featured a sheer lace corset top—sexy!—with a pair of, well, unsexy baggy wide-leg trousers. However, these days, trousers are more of a cool-girl pant than an office-girl pant, and celebs are making the case for wearing them with everything but an equally stuffy button-down.

Vergara took the sexiest approach to styling baggy trousers, though it might not be the most practical this time of year. So, if you want to get in on her cool-girl bottoms, which are destined to be around for all of 2025, consider pairing them with a cashmere sweater, cropped white tee and blazer, or fitted bodysuit. If you’re feeling daring, especially as you plan your Valentine’s Day outfits, copy Vergara and opt for a sheer corset top. It’s a party on the top, business on the bottom type of look that I’m totally on board with.

The actress rounded out her look with a must-have winter staple, a jacket, which she hung over her shoulders, simple black heeled shoes, and last but not least, those trending East-West bags—a modern take on the beloved baguette bags. This accessory trend is all about an elongated shape, which adds an eye-catching element to any outfit; just take Vergara’s as an example.
