For the last year, Michael Strahan has been open about his experience when faced with his daughter Isabella's cancer diagnosis in October 2023. Now, Isabella's twin sister Sophia is speaking out for the first time about it, and she's sharing how she made it her mission to be a supportive sibling in her own way.

The Good Morning America star and his daughters spoke to People ahead of the premiere of their primetime special Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan's Fight Against Cancer (premiering February 5 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC), and the trio opened up about Isabella's treatment for a rare brain cancer called medulloblastoma. While the USC college student completed chemotherapy in June 2024 and is now cancer-free, her health scare impacted her family in different ways. As Sophia shared with the outlet, she wanted to be a support system for Isabella through this scary time in her life. As for how she did it? Sophia's idea was to help her sister feel like a typical young adult, especially as she was being treated.

"Something she would say to me quite a few times was like, 'I just don't feel normal. I want to feel normal. Nothing about my life right now is normal,'" Sophia began in a clip shared on Instagram. "I think something that I tried to do best was to make her feel normal."

That wasn't all Sophia said on the subject. As she continued explaining to the publication, Sophia made it a point to share with Isabella the latest drama going on with their friends or talk about things happening in the news. But what it really all came down to was Sophia wanting to help Isabella maintain a sense of normalcy, despite the unimaginable hardship she was experiencing at the time.

"I feel like something that I took the most pride in doing was just trying to make small talk," Sophia added. "Kind of like, I don't know, just try to make things feel as normal as possible and show her she is normal. Nothing that she went through was a normal experience, but now looking back at that, she's back in her life. I think she handled everything so incredibly well and I can't even imagine how it felt."

When fans saw the emotional way Sophia talked about watching Isabella undergo cancer treatment, their hearts went out to the twin sisters.

"Having a sister is everything!🥹❤️❤️," one person wrote in the comments. "You can get through anything with your sister by your side to support you. 💕💕," another agreed. "Sisterly love ❤️ is beautiful," a different follower added.

As for how Isabella feels about life now that she's in remission, she shared that having her family beside her has made her hopeful for what's to come in the future.

"Obviously you can't predict what will happen and that's a little scary," Isabella said. "But I don't think you can solely live in fear. I think I should live every day. Take every opportunity. I see the impact that can come from sharing my experience. I want to be a voice."
