Sophie Ellis-Bextor to perform viral 'Saltburn' song at BAFTA Film Awards

Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Sophie Ellis-Bextor will take the stage at the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards.

Organizers announced Wednesday that Ellis-Bextor will perform at the 77th annual ceremony Feb. 18 at Royal Festival Hall in London.

"I am so excited," the singer said in an accompanying video. "It's going to be amazing. I'm already practicing some looks and I cannot wait. So see you there!"

Ellis-Bextor will perform her song "Murder on the Dancefloor," originally released in 2001. The song recently went viral after being featured in the 2023 film Saltburn, written and directed by Emerald Fennell.

"The pop dancefloor classic has seen a huge resurgence - old and new fans are streaming the track which is being used as a trending audio for millions of videos on Instagram and TikTok, and continues to mark new achievements on Spotify, YouTube and TikTok globally," BAFTA said in a press release.

Saltburn, starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, is nominated for five awards at the BAFTA Film Awards, including Best Actor in a Leading Role for Keoghan and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Elordi.

The BAFTA Film Awards will air on BBC One and stream on Britbox in the United States.
