'Soup you can suck on': Progresso introduces new chicken noodle soup-flavored hard candy
Progresso has come up with a new way for soup lovers to consume chicken noodle soup this cold and flu season.
The soup company announced Thursday it is launching Soup Drops, a chicken noodle soup-flavored hard candy drop that resembles a cough drop.
"These savory drops are arriving for a limited time this month for National Soup Month, right at the height of cold and flu season," the company said in a news release Thursday.
The drops, being tabbed by Progresso as "soup you can suck on," taste like broth, savory veggies, soft egg noodles, and a hint of parsley, according to the company.
Customers can get the Soup Drops exclusively at ProgressoSoupDrops.com starting Jan. 16 at 9 a.m. ET, with additional quantities released every Thursday for the rest of January, while supplies last, according to the news release.

'Why stop at the soup bowl?'
The drops are packaged in a can that looks like a regular Progresso soup can with 20 individually wrapped candies in each can. Each order also comes with a can of actual Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup, all for $2.49 plus shipping, according to Progresso.
"When you’re sick, nothing is truly more reassuring than Chicken Noodle Soup. So, we thought, why stop at the soup bowl? We took the beloved flavors of our Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup and packed them into a fun, savory candy Soup Drop for a totally new way to enjoy the taste you love whenever and wherever you want,” said MC Comings, VP, Business Unit Director for Progresso at General Mills, in the news release.
