Star Moves: Selena Gomez and John Legend Pick Up New Digs, Keke Palmer Sheds Her Starter Home

This week in celebrity real estate transactions, Keke Palmer put her starter house in Los Angeles up for sale, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen picked up a vacation getaway in Lake Arrowhead, and word on the street is Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have settled into an architecturally pedigreed spread in Beverly Hills.

Late last year, soon after Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco announced their engagement, the singer/actor/beauty entrepreneur and her music producer fiancé quietly shelled out $35 million for a sprawling Spanish-style estate in a prime pocket of Beverly Hills that was once owned by Joker and The Hangover director Todd Phillips. The off-market deal, which went down in early December and clocked in as one of the priciest of 2024, includes a restored and expanded main home that was originally designed in 1928 by noted architect Wallace Neff and now boasts seven bedrooms and 12 baths in roughly 7,000 square feet across two levels. Two separate structures house a studio, gym, and movie theater, while the park-like grounds span over three-quarters of an acre and host a fitness center, stone-encased pool and spa, and glassy greenhouse. Gomez still lays claim to a place in Encino that was previously owned by Tom Petty, while Blanco has a Hollywood Hills estate that has been featured in Architectural Digest.

Meanwhile, about 90 minutes from L.A., Hollywood power couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have expanded their West Coast property portfolio with a vacation getaway in the mountain community of Lake Arrowhead. Records show the pair plunked down $6.4 million last October for a Tudor-esque charmer nestled in an exclusive gated enclave. Built in the 1930s and since reimagined, the six-bedroom home has nearly 3,900 square feet of Amber Lewis-designed living space on two floors highlighted by a vaulted living room sporting the original stone fireplace. Large picture windows frame views of the lake and mature oaks, with other notable amenities including double docks topped with entertainment decks. Legend and Teigen also own two L.A. homes, one a $17.5 million mansion in Beverly Hills and the other a $5.1 million modern abode in West Hollywood.

Back in the City of Angels, Emmy-winning actress and TV host Keke Palmer has hoisted her starter house in the hills of Studio City up for sale at a speck under $1.8 million, which is around $400,000 more than she paid for the blue-hued digs back in spring 2021. Built in 1987 and resting on a secluded cul-de-sac parcel spanning less than a quarter of an acre, the three-bedroom residence offers 2,600 square feet of upgraded living space overlooking the leafy grounds. There’s also a cozy fireside living area, as well as a wine fridge-equipped dining room. A custom kitchen connects to the family room, which has French doors opening out to a backyard holding multiple patios, a hot tub, and a barbecue area. Palmer upgraded to a nearly $5 million dwelling in Encino a little over a year ago.
