Starface Collaborates With Hello Kitty on Pimple Patches Featuring Sanrio’s Most Popular Characters
Starface has collaborated with Sanrio for the fifth time to release “Hello Kitty and Friends x Starface,” a selection of limited-edition skin care products featuring Hello Kitty and several other beloved characters from the popular franchise.
Starface, an acne skin care brand known for its bestselling Hydro-Stars hydrocolloid pimple patches, has collaborated with the Japanese entertainment company numerous times on different product variations featuring Sanrio’s most popular characters.

The 2024 collection will feature compacts and refills of Hello Kitty, Badtz Maru and Keroppi-themed Hydro-Stars, which will be available to purchase online and in-store beginning Jan. 25. The patches, designed to help absorb fluid, reduce the appearance of inflammation and shrink pimples, have been redesigned to resemble the character’s cartoon faces. Like all Hydro-Stars, the patches come packaged in a small plastic compact that has been reworked with the colors and faces of each individual character.
Starface’s first collaboration with Sanrio sold out within 72 hours of going live and amassed a 10,000-person waitlist. Previous Hello Kitty x Starface collections are available to purchase for more than three times their original price on popular resale websites like eBay and Depop.
“We can’t wait to welcome Hello Kitty back into the Starface universe with two of her cutest friends, Badtz-Maru and Keroppi,” said Starface president Kara Brothers-Phillips. “Friendship, kindness, and inclusivity are ingrained into the DNA of Hello Kitty and our brand mascot Big Yellow, so our ongoing partnership with Sanrio has always felt right.”
In addition to its several collaborations with Sanrio, Starface has teamed with other popular brands on similar limited-edition product lines. Last December, Starface collaborated with Glossier on a set of colorful Hydro-Stars that transformed popular motifs from the brand, including bright red cherries, electric yellow smiley faces and baby pink stars.
Other partnerships include Starface’s 2021 collaboration with “Sesame Street” on bright red Elmo-themed patches and the brand’s 2022 collaboration with “SpongeBob SquarePants” on exclusive Spongebob and Patrick-themed patches.
