Stay in the cottage from the famous 1973 Hovis bread 'bike' advert
Looking for a cosy autumn staycation? You can now stay in the iconic 'Hovis Hill' cottage in Dorset.
Nestled on Shaftesbury's prestigious Gold Hill, Button Cottage was made famous by the iconic 1973 Hovis bread 'Bike' TV advert directed by Ridley Scott. Voted the most favourite advert of all time in one poll, it sees a young boy pushing his bike with a basket full of bread up a steep hill.
This is not the first time we've had the chance to step inside a famous Hovis cottage. Back in 2018, the neighbouring cottage was on the market and sold for £395,000.
The luxurious terraced property, available to rent via Holidaycottages.co.uk, is accessed via a doorway from the charming cobbled street. Built with original Shaftesbury Abbey stone, today it benefits from rustic beams, a wood burner, exposed stonework, Farrow & Ball paint on the walls, a courtyard garden, and modern amenities.
Perfect for a weekend away, you'll find a cosy living room with snug sofas, a kitchen with hand-built units, and captivating views over the slopes of the surrounding countryside. With space for up to three people (there is one double bedroom and a single), it's a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle.
The two bedrooms are accessed via a winding staircase. Designed to maximise space, the single bedroom with a day bed is to the right of the stairs, while the double bedroom offers ultimate comfort with a 7,000-pocket sprung mattress and vintage bed frame.
Meanwhile, the courtyard garden outside is an oasis in every season. From the old stone walls to the beautiful views of the Blackmore Vale beyond, it's a wonderful place to curl up with a cup of tea and soak up the scenery.
Button Cottage can be booked via holidaycottages.co.uk. A seven-night stay costs £1,131.
