What to Steer Clear of in 2025, Based on Your Zodiac Sign
I’m a student of the stars. If there’s one thing I can confidently say about the astrology of 2025, it’s this: Everything is about to change. Virtually every planet — even ones that move super slowly, like Uranus and Neptune — is switching zodiac signs this year, setting big shifts into motion for everyone collectively and personally.
Though 2025 begins with a Mars retrograde that may leave you feeling sluggish, the pace will pick back up in the spring. A Venus retrograde in March and April will nudge you to tend to your relationships and matters of the heart; you’ll get a turbocharged boost of hope, optimism, and abundance just in time for some summer fun once Jupiter swims on over into big-hearted Cancer, its favorite sign of them all.
Saturn and Neptune will briefly dip into Aries this year, too, previewing new obstacles, obligations, and escapist fantasies you’ll be contending with for the foreseeable future. And that’s not even an exhaustive list of everything that’s ahead. (See? I told you 2025 was a lot.)
Change can be hard, even the positive kind, so I’ve gone ahead and broken down what each zodiac sign should avoid to live their best life in 2025. If you’re familiar with your full astrological birth chart (you can generate yours here), read for your rising sign; if not, your Sun sign will do just fine. Happy reading, and here’s to a dynamic, never-boring year ahead.
Aries: Moving Too Fast and Being Delulu About Your Own Limits
This year looks like a slow burn for you, Aries (sorry!). Mars, your ruling planet, will be retrograde until February, signaling delays, false starts, and a slower pace of life, especially at home. That saying about measuring twice so you only have to cut once? Make that your motto for the first chunk of the year.
From June onward, Jupiter in Cancer will bring luck and expansion to this same area of your life. This could be literal, like moving into a bigger space or relocating to a different city, or it could be abstract, like expanding your definition of family. Last but certainly not least: Saturn and Neptune will briefly enter your sign this year, pushing you once again to slow down, acknowledge your limits, and get serious about your health, even if you’d rather live in delusion. It’s foreshadowing what’s to come over the next few years, so take any wake-up calls seriously.
Taurus: Running with the Wrong Crew
You’re in for some soul searching in 2025, Taurus. Your friendships, social circles, and aspirations will be top of mind for you in March and April, when Venus, your ruling planet, is retrograde. Are you happy with the community you’ve cultivated and the dreams you’re working toward, or are you undermining yourself pretending to be someone you’re not just to fit in? Get to the heart of whatever’s not working.
Beginning in June, Jupiter in Cancer will grant you the gift of a fresh perspective through new writing, learning, or travel opportunities. And Uranus’ first dip into Gemini in July will inject a jolt of energy into your resources sector. This is a preview of a long-term transit, so think about ways you can begin liberating yourself from any insecurities that are preventing you from thriving at work or finding your people.
Gemini: Letting Insecurities Hold You Back in Life and Love
If you’re feeling a bit scattered going into 2025, then I’ve got good news for you, Gemini: Stability is coming your way. Your year really picks up in the spring, when lucky Jupiter enters Cancer and gives your confidence a much-needed boost. You’ll also have more gas in your tank and more money in your bank account, perhaps by way of a lucrative professional collaboration or a partner who wants to provide for you.
If you’re single, you could meet someone new; if you’re partnered, this could be a really stabilizing year for your relationship. Just make sure you’re taking good care of yourself, body and soul. Otherwise, Uranus’ first tiptoe into your sign in July could shake things up in a way that’s rough on your body or reveals how you’re limiting your own potential. TL;DR, it’s time to get out of your own way and adopt an abundance mindset.
Cancer: Downplaying Challenges in Your Career or Relationships
It’s your lucky year, Cancer. Though 2025 will start off on a slow, potentially challenging note for you (shout-out to that irritating Mars retrograde), you’re in for an internal and external glow-up come June, when lucky Jupiter enters your sign. Expect to feel more hopeful and curious about yourself on a deep level; about all things you want to learn, experience, and check off your bucket list. (If you’re looking to shoot your shot or try something new, do it on August 12, when Venus and Jupiter link up in an ultra-lucky conjunction.)
In less exciting news, taskmaster Saturn will be in Aries for a brief stint beginning in May. Pay attention to any obstacles you encounter in your career or committed relationships — it’s a taste of what’s to come over the next few years, so you’ll want to familiarize yourself with these stumbling blocks. And it’ll only get more confusing once Neptune enters the picture for good next year.
Leo: Not Resting or Taking Enough Time for Yourself
Don’t plan to hit the ground running in 2025, Leo. With Mars retrograding through Cancer and then your sign, you’ll be taking things slow, revisiting old projects, and doing activities to tend to your mental health needs until the spring. From June onward, Jupiter in Cancer will inspire you to invest in your creative fulfillment and emotional well-being, perhaps through a writing retreat, a solo trip, or more R&R in general.
Additionally, expect some potential shake-ups when it comes to your work, finances, and any assets you share with a partner. With eclipses in Pisces and Virgo pinging the financial sectors of your chart in March and again in September, there could be some big changes in these areas of your life, for better or for worse. Make sure you have a solid support system in place to buoy you.
Virgo: Trying to Be Someone You’re Not
New year, new you, Virgo. With the South Node entering your sign in January, it’s time to surrender to the changing tides and let go of any identity labels or stories about yourself that no longer suit you. Definitely pay attention to what happens when eclipses happen in mid March and early September. Maybe you’ll have a pivotal realization about one of your self-limiting beliefs or a fateful encounter with someone who becomes important in your life.
In general, you’ll have better luck this year in your relationships, an area of your life that’s probably been more challenging since 2023. Come May, lucky Jupiter in Cancer will deliver blessings through your network — your friends, peers, and any groups or communities you belong to. Don’t be surprised if a friend sets you up with a new love interest, or if your bestie helps you achieve something you’ve always dreamed of.
Libra: Dwelling on Your Relationship L’s, Not Your Career W’s
Relationships are a big theme for you this year, Libra. As Venus, your ruling planet, retrogrades through Pisces and Aries in the spring, you’ll be thinking long and hard about your main relationships — about who’s in your inner circle, what value these relationships add to your life, and how you show up in these dynamics.
It’s good prep work for Saturn’s first dip into Aries. This summer, you’ll get a preview of any setbacks, challenges, or serious commitments that will play out in your main relationships over the next three years. In lighter news, you’ll experience more luck and growth in your career in 2025 thanks to Jupiter in Cancer and all the hard work you’ll be putting in. So celebrate those wins, too. Onward and upward.
Scorpio: Burning Yourself Out
Don’t work yourself into the ground in Q1, Scorpio. Mars, your ruling planet, will be retrograde until February, stalling any forward motion when it comes to your professional and intellectual pursuits. Instead, focus on conserving your energy, preventing burnout, and revisiting any old work or research projects that didn’t quite take off the first time around.
In better news, you’re in for a really fun, action-packed summer — beginning in June, Jupiter in Cancer could inspire you to build a business, expand your creative skill set, or travel abroad, either for work or with a romantic interest in tow. Though you’ll be feeling more hopeful and open to new experiences, try to manage your time wisely and keep an eye on your health. Otherwise, you might be in for a harsh reality check when Saturn dips into Aries over the summer.
Sagittarius: Shying Away from Hard Conversations or Inner Healing
Are you ready to work on yourself, Sag? You’re in for a dynamic, rewarding year of personal growth and transformation, but it won’t happen overnight, and it can’t happen in a vacuum. In June, Jupiter, your ruling planet, will enter Cancer; moving forward, you’ll have better luck investing in your future self, unpacking your emotional baggage, and leaning on your loved ones for moral (or financial) support.
Pay attention to any shake-ups in your personal or professional life around eclipse season in mid-March and late September — maybe you’ll have a fateful interaction with a family member or a sudden change of heart about your career trajectory. And in general, chin up. Having less time for fun stuff is a natural by-product of doing the hard work to better yourself.
Capricorn: Avoiding Commitment (to People, to Plans, You Name It)
Romance is in the air for you in 2025, Capricorn. Though you’re in for a slow start to the year, the pace will accelerate quickly in the spring when Jupiter makes its foray into Cancer. Expect more luck and expansion in your committed relationships, romantic or otherwise — maybe you’ll connect with a new writing partner or get engaged to your partner over the summer.
There is a catch, though: Saturn, your ruling planet, will also switch signs in May, triggering some delays or difficult conversations on the home front. If you’ve been thinking about reconnecting with a family member or renovating your home to make it your personal sanctuary, it’s time to get serious about it and actually make a plan, not live in delusion. That might be easier said than done with Neptune in the picture, too, but hey, Saturn demands hard truths.
Aquarius: Working Too Hard and Not Setting Boundaries
You’re a real workhorse this year, Aquarius — just not right away. The grind begins for real in June, when Jupiter enters Cancer and ups the pace in your work life. Expect to improve your productivity, earn your coin, and expand your network as a result of your hard work. As of last fall, Pluto is semipermanently situated in your sign, which will galvanize you to take charge in life. The catch? You can’t hide from yourself or deny how you feel anymore. It’s time to feel into this energy and learn to harness it productively.
And once Saturn, your ruling planet, enters Aries in May, you’ll also get a crash course in setting boundaries and communicating constructively. If any big conversations or writing projects come to a standstill, make a mental note of it. This is a preview of longer transit, so you’ll be dealing with similar stumbling blocks and moments of uncertainty in the years to come.
Pisces: Limiting Your Personal or Creative Potential
This year is all about personal growth for you, Pisces. With the North Node taking up temporary residence in your sign (and murky Neptune dipping out of your sign for the first time in ages), you’ll gain more clarity around who you are at your core, what you want out of life, and what you need to do to get it. Take note of what happens during eclipse season in mid-March and early September — a fated event could send you down an unexpected path or remove someone who wasn’t meant to be in your life.
And look forward to a really fun, romantic summer: Jupiter, your ruling planet, will enter Cancer in May and remain there for the rest of the year, blessing your pastimes, passion projects, and dating life. If you’re single, get back on the apps and put yourself out there; if you’re an artist, invest in the creative projects you find fulfilling.
