Stephen Curry’s Gentleman’s Cut Is Releasing a Kentucky Straight Bourbon for $950
It's meant to celebrate 16 years in the NBA.
Stephen Curry is a two-time MVP and four-time NBA champion who holds the league record for most career 3-pointers to go along with the highest career free-throw percentage in professional basketball history. It’s quite the understatement to say his talent is preciously rare. Now he’s ready to introduce something preciously rare into the bottle.
Gentleman’s Cut, the whiskey brand Curry launched last year along with famed Napa Valley vintner John Schwartz, just called its newest release off the bench. Player Exclusive: Father and Son Edition is a 16-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon celebrating the number of years the future Hall-of-Famer has now played in the NBA.
It’s a rather momentous milestone considering that Steph’s dad and mentor, Dell Curry, retired after 16 years in the league. Fittingly, they worked together to source and select the barrels that went into the final 100-proof blend. And there was only enough of it to fill 1,000 bottles, making it the most limited offering from the brand to date.

Compared to the signature Gentleman’s Cut release, “Stephen and Dell chose a mashbill blend with a higher content of rye, to give it a spicier and slightly sweeter mouthfeel,” says Schwartz of the Father and Son Edition, which is comprised of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. “It’s a bourbon with depth, polish, and a long finish.”
But you don’t have to take his word for it. Steph himself shared tasting notes on the release. And we have to say, he kind of has an all-star palate when it comes to whiskey. The younger Curry observes intense aromatics of dried cherries and caramelized sugar in the 16-year-old spirit. On the palate, “soft notes of charred violet, fig, and rich cinnamon notes are balanced by spice and leather,” he adds. While “integrated tannins from the extended aging process give the bourbon a lengthy finish.”
“For me, personally, it is a great opportunity to work with Stephen to create one-time special releases that we hope will elevate the storytelling and olfactory sensations of bourbon enthusiasts around the world,” adds Schwartz.
For collectors, that special blend of quality and precious rarity is bound to get them in the game. So you can expect Father and Son Edition to be stripped from shelves long before NBA playoff season rolls around — even at a suggested retail price of $950 a bottle. If you’re lucky enough to score a pour, don’t even think about taking a shot. This one is strictly for sipping.
