The announcement came at the end of last month’s primetime special General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling, where Burton was joined by co-stars Laura Wright (aka Carly) and Kelly Monaco (Sam) for the big reveal.

Then in a new video posted this morning to Daily Drama’s YouTube channel, Burton revealed his first airdate to be Monday, March 4.

“So, listen… I got to talk to the head writers, this story is going to be sick,” the soap vet teased. “It’s gonna be awesome. So, make sure you keep watching, because the pieces of the puzzle are gonna be fit.”

Burton’s most recent GH run came to an end in 2021, when he and ABC, like co-star Ingo Rademacher before him, arrived at an impasse due to the COVID vaccine mandate. Shortly thereafter, Jason was presumed dead after being caught in a tunnel collapse beneath Cassadine Island… but no body was ever recovered.

“I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculation about me and General Hospital, and I wanted you to hear it from me personally. Unfortunately, General Hospital has let me go, because of the vaccine mandate,” Burton shared at the time. “I did apply for my medical and religious exemptions, and both of those were denied… which, you know, hurts. But this is also about personal freedom to me. I don’t think anybody should lose their livelihood over this.”

In 2022, Burton resurfaced on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives spinoff Beyond Salem, where he reprised his role as the enigmatic Harris Michaels. Then in 2023, he brought Harris to Days proper.

Hours ahead of his GH announcement, Burton confirmed that he’d shot his last scenes for Days. You can watch his “emotional farewell” message below:

An air date for Burton’s first GH episode has not been announced as of press time. Will you tune in for his eventual return?
