Happy Ending for Bride Who Lost Wedding Gown in Wildfires

Like many brides-to-be, Élise Boissonneault took months to find the perfect dress to get married in. But in a matter of days, the dress she lovingly picked out was destroyed as massive wildfires ravaged Fort McMurray.

With only three days to the wedding, Boissonneault and her fiancé Brandon Phillippo were unsure if there would still be one.

Their wedding photographer, Alex Neary, put out a call on Facebook to help the bride replace her lost gown and within hours, numerous offers came pouring in. Over 100 dresses were offered to the bride along with jewellery, hair and make up services.

“It was truly overwhelming and incredibly heart warming,” wrote Neary on her blog. “This story really goes to show how willing complete strangers are to help another person in need.”
