The Strathberry x Shrimps collection is must-have arm candy – and available now!
A designer bag is a dream item for most – but independent bag brands have been nipping at the heels of the big-name labels for a while now, making waves in the industry with exciting shapes, timeless styles and new POVs for what you’re toting on your arm. Even more, new-gen bag brands are filling the ever-growing gap in the market between high street and luxury. Yep, an it-girl bag is for *everyone*.
Strathberry, a fashion editor fave, has partnered with Shrimps on a limited edition capsule collection of handbags and accessories. Any fashion girlie with her finger on the pulse will no doubt know of Shrimps, be it for their pastel-hued faux fur collar coats, beaded top handle box bags or pearl-embellished bejewelled shrimp-shaped drop earrings. The London-based brand is part of the new collective of designer labels that, since its launch in 2013, has accrued a long list of celebrity fans – here’s looking at you, Alexa Chung. Strathberry is a relatively new kid on the block, but trust us when we say you’re seriously missing out.
Husband-and-wife team Guy and Leeanne Hundleby established Scotland’s only luxury leather goods brand in the heart of Edinburgh 10 years ago. It has since become a fashion editor’s best-kept secret, but we’re not about gatekeeping here. The elegant bags have been sported by Kate Middleton, Katie Holmes, and Meghan Markle too.
Defined by a minimalist and contemporary aesthetic, the collections are immediately recognisable by architectural silhouettes, elegant, understated lines and the label’s signature music bar closure. These design details remain in the capsule collection, contrasted beautifully with the witty and whimsical design eccentricities Shrimps designer, Hannah Weiland, is known for.
Embroidered daisies, handwoven braided handles and crochet edging adorn two of Strathberry’s most iconic bag designs, the Mosaic Nano – a best seller, FYI – and the Lana Osette. As for the aforementioned music bar closure, it has been embellished with Shrimps’ signature pearls to seamlessly blend the two brands’ DNA. Additionally, a curated selection of accessories in the form of the Osette pouch, cardholders and skinny silk scarves completes the limited edition range.
“Working with Leeanne and the team at Strathberry has been an absolute joy,” Weiland said of the collaboration process. “By combining our creative visions, we’ve created a truly special collection that celebrates exceptional craftsmanship and design-driven storytelling.”
