A unique student-run restaurant will soon be reopening in Macon for lunch with a new menu.

Edgar’s Bistro, part of the Macon campus of Helms College, will open for lunch starting Thursday.

Edgar’s Bistro is a dynamic applied learning venue designed to provide Helms College third and fourth-quarter culinary students with hands-on, real restaurant experience, according to Lynae Radke, Edgar’s Bistro head chef and instructor.

“Open to the public for lunch, we offer a meticulously curated menu that highlights the skill and creativity of our students,” she said. “Each dish is prepared and served by students with the utmost professionalism, making dining at Edgar’s Bistro a unique and delightful experience.”

Radke said the culinary students take charge of every role, from front-of-house to back-of-house operations. She said under her guidance, they gain invaluable real-world experience, honing their skills and perfecting their craft.

The immersive environment allows them to produce exceptional bistro-style fare while delivering top-notch service, preparing them for successful careers in the hospitality industry, she said.

Edgar’s Bistro operates on a unique schedule that aligns with its academic calendar. It is open every other quarter, coinciding with its back of the house and front of the house techniques courses.
