They're back! Iconic Nineties toys go viral on Christmas Furbtrees

Christmas is suddenly taking a very magical turn with festive firs becoming Furbtrees. Videos of the London's famous Covent Garden evergreen decked out with the owl-like creatures went viral over the weekend. The wacky Furby takeover also hit Paris’s Boulevard Haussmann (Place Diaghilev), and Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate. Comments from UK fans on social media platform Instagram included; OMG! I need this tree in my life, I looove it!!!!! and It's a dream come true! The Nineties cultural toy icon is making a comeback across Europe after being relaunched earlier this year. More than 40 million of the cuddly robots were originally sold during the first three years of production. The toy, which caught the world's imagination, starts out speaking entirely "Furbish", the unique language that all Furbies speak, but is programmed to start speaking English words and phrases in place of Furbish over time. And with Millennial parents reliving their childhoods, Furbies are set to be at the top of kids' wish lists again this Christmas. But if you're planning to actually go to see one of the Furbtrees, be warned. They are all the work of some augmented reality magic.
