Primer
While primer isn’t mandatory, it often helps set the base for your makeup, ensuring a more movement-proof look. Opting for a primer that also has sunscreen in it is recommended, since exposure to hours of strong rays can do damage to your skin. MAC offers a P+P lotion that is good for both your face and your body, and it has a SPF 50. A less expensive option (minus the SPF, though) is Rimmel’s Stay Matte Primer, which will run for less than $10. Key to note: you can also use this product after you apply your foundation.

Foundation
When it comes to summer heat the last thing you want to feel is caked down, with your pores clogged full of heavy makeup. If foundation-wearing is a must, choose a lotion that is light and airy and won’t weigh you down. Try Revlon’s Whipped Créme Makeup, which comes in a variety of shade selections, holds up well in humid temperatures, and lasts “up to 24-hours.” If you’re more of a foundation stick type-of-person check out this 12-hour concealer from Tarte. Waterproof and moisture-rich, this is a go-to product that not only helps reduce redness but also dark circles and other imperfections on your face. If you have sensitive skin or are cautious about putting too much on, try Clinque’s Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup, which has been “tested for streaking and fading.”

Bronzer
For those that want a sun-kissed glow, there are a couple of great products worth mentioning. A personal favourite is Rimmel’s Natural Bronzing Powder Sun Glow. It’s affordable, has an SPF 15, and provides a nice overall dusting to your skin without going overboard. Now, avoid going overboard with this product because (speaking from experience), your skin can get two to three shades darker realllllyyyyy quickly. Another great benefit: it’s a very airy product and allows your skin to breathe, and that helps when it’s sweltering outside. Another lightweight bronzing powder to try is the Stay All Day Bronzer for Face and Body by Stila. Stila makes quality products and the matte-finishing, healthy glow you achieve is not streaky and can withstand hot temperatures.

Eyeshadow
So you want to spruce up your lids but don’t want to perspire and have your flawless shade turn into a sweaty mess? We understand. Pick one of the four shades from Maybelline’s Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal eyeshadow collection and smooth over the eyelid. The 24-hour cream gel is perfect to wear from day to night without worrying about reapplying every hour, and it’s water-resistant. If you have the budget to spend more, opt for the 24-hour Infallible Eye Shadow from L’Oreal, which comes in a bevy of velvety shades.

Eyeshadow primer
Some people want to go as makeup free as possible in the summer, and one way to achieve this with your eyes is choosing an eyeshadow primer to use in replace of full-on eyeshadow. Urban Decay offers tinted versions of its normal Primer Potion, which can be set as crease-free cream for your eyelids – plus, it lasts for 24 hours.

Eyeliner
The dreaded smudged eyeliner is always a possibility if you’re not careful, especially when it is ridiculously bright out and your eyes have been watering all day. To keep fear to a minimum check out the tried and tested go-to Aqua Liner Liquid Eyeliner from Make Up For Ever. Smudge-proof and waterproof, this eyeliner comes in a ton of vibrant colours, or if you’d rather, stick with your traditional matte black. This product was created for the Parisian Aquatic Ballet and tested under water for five hours, ensuring lasting colour. If you’re not a fan of liquid liner (or, like me, you still can’t master it), Smashbox is a trusted name, and its Always Sharp Waterproof Kôhl Liner is a great investment and still maintains solid precision.

Mascara
When it comes to waterproof/sweatproof mascara, there are many options available, but finding the one that actually works for you can be a bit tricky. On the more expensive end of the spectrum is the High Impact Waterproof Mascara from Clinique. This mascara is ophthalmologist-tested, and is safe for sensitive eyes. CoverGirl’s LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara is a staple product which gives you bolder, elongated lashes. It’s also hypoallergenic. However, if you’re not a fan of big brushes but still want some serious volume, try the Revlon Bold Lacquer Length & Volume Mascara, which you can get in waterproof or non-waterproof. The waterproof formula really lasts – from sweaty workouts to active bike rides to even pool play.

Eyebrow care
Maintaining that sculpted look while sweating can prove to be difficult. MAC offers Pro Long Wear Waterproof Brow Set, which has a great long-lasting hold, super precise brush, and requires minimum upkeep. Lancôme Sourcils Gel is also a good find, especially if you want those brows to remain thick and sculpted.

Lip colour
I don’t know about you but I’ve never really had the best luck with lipstick actually sticking on my lips, especially on a hot day. I’m constantly reapplying (or it smudges at the corners). I’ve heard Topshop’s Lip & Cheek Smudge is good, but I’ve personally become attached to the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain by Revlon. The whole “stain” in the name is really true, as it feels more like you’re colouring in your lips with lipliner (something I still swear by). It comes in a ton of different shades too.

Blotting Papers
Sometimes you just don’t want to put more makeup on (especially when it’s sticky out), and that’s when blotting papers can help calm down the skin while adding a nice cooling after-effect. Keep packages in your purse so when you hit the beach you can dab your T-zone when needed. Try Boscia or Clean & Clear products to help conquer oil.
