Sweet Photos Show Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at Their New School

Like millions of children around the world, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are returning to school after the summer holidays. And, following the announcement that they are starting at a new school near Windsor, photographs have been released of the Cambridges attending a "settling in afternoon" ahead of tomorrow’s big first day.

Pictures shared by Kensington Palace show Prince William and Kate Middleton arriving with their three children at Lambrook School in Berkshire for an event to welcome new students and their families to the school.

“Ahead of their first day at Lambrook School, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, accompanied by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today attended a settling in afternoon for new pupils at the school,” Kensington Palace said in a statement this evening. “The settling in afternoon is an annual event held to welcome new starters and their families to Lambrook and takes place the day before the start of the new school term.”

The royal children will begin their studies at Lambrook tomorrow, which is set in 52-acres of countryside and boasts a 25-meter swimming pool, nine-hole golf course and an orchard with bees, chickens and pigs. Prince George will be entering the Prep school in year five, Charlotte in year three and Louis will be a pupil in the school’s Pre Prep.

The new school coincides with the family’s move to Windsor, where they are now living in Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate. The four-bedroom home is modest by the standards of royal residences, however, the decision to relocate and take on an extra property has attracted some criticism. The Cambridges will continue to have Kensington Palace's apartment 1A as a London home, as well as Anmer Hall in the Norfolk countryside as a weekend and holiday retreat.

Prince William and Kate have been motivated in their decision by what they feel is best for their children, with a source stressing that they have a strong desire to be as normal a family as possible. Moving out of London—and the tourist attraction that is Kensington Palace—is very likely to allow George, Charlotte and Louis more freedom as they get older. The move puts them closer to the Middletons and also in many ways emulates the upbringing that Kate had in the Berkshire countryside.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte previously started at Thomas’s Battersea in southwest London in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Apart from a small video and photocall on their first days, the media stayed away from the school and the same will be expected with Lambrook.
