Sydney Sweeney’s deconstructed trench coat dress and petticoat is city chic

Unless you live under a rock, there's no chance you could have missed the endless Met Gala 2024 updates that have dominated our social media feeds since preparations for the event kicked off the morning of the first Monday in May. While Kendall Jenner, Zendaya and Emily Ratajkowski all wowed with unreal looks for the evening, no one made headlines quite like Sydney Sweeney.

The actress was unrecognisable when she stepped out onto the red carpet – or rather, green and cream ombré carpet – debuting a black bob haircut. Paired with a voluminous tulle Miu Miu ball gown featuring floral embellishment (in line with the 'Garden of Time' theme) and black opera gloves, it combined to make a statement look and earned Syd a spot on many a best dressed list from the evening.

Well, less than 24 hours later and in a Cinderella-esque style, Sydney has *again* switched up her look.

Spotted leaving her hotel in New York on Tuesday 7 May, Sydney was serving city chic in a strapless deconstructed trench coat dress. The A-line skirt was adorned with the outerwear's traditional flap pockets and double-breasted buttons, with a slit down the centre revealing a ruffled petticoat beneath.

In a stark U-turn from the gothic princess vibe she repped on Monday night, she was back to her natural blonde tresses. Gold wire-frame sunglasses, a white shoulder bag and white pointed-toe heeled mule sandals completed the look.

It's yet another example of her effortlessly stylish ensembles, having worn a denim bandana top and low-rise jeans with men's tight whities peaking out the top the day before the Met. Long may this fashion streak continue!
