Taco Bell Brings Back the Double Decker Taco at a Cheaper Price After a Fan Called Them 'Cowards' on Twitter

The Double Decker Taco was first introduced nearly 30 years ago but was taken off of the permanent menu in 2019

Taco Bell got bullied into bringing back a popular item.

The fast-casual Mexican restaurant’s Double Decker Tacos are back starting on Oct. 10 through the end of the month after one fan's strongly worded message swayed the chain.

The item at the center of the taco tension combines two tacos into one bite. A hard shell taco, filled with beef, lettuce and shredded cheese is wrapped in a bean-filled soft tortilla. The supreme version also has tomatoes and sour cream inside the taco shell.

In August, @scottinthe503 replied to a Taco Bell post on X (formerly known as Twitter) and taunted the fast food chain. “Bring back the Double Decker Taco, u cowards,” he wrote.

The fan-favorite item was last available in December 2023 and has had a storied history, having first been available in 1995. The Double Decker Taco became a permanent menu item in 2006 before being discontinued in 2019. Since then it has popped up intermittently and caused outrage from customers whenever it departs.

In celebration of Taco Bell’s bravery in bringing back the menu item, the Double Decker Taco will go for $2 and the Double Decker Taco Supreme for $2.69 (compared to it’s previous prices of $2.99 and $3.69, respectively).

While picking up the Double Decker Taco fans can try out the returning Big Cheez-It menu items.
