Fans of Taco Bell’s Crispy Chicken Nuggets are upset the item is leaving menus after being introduced last month.

A representative for Taco Bell confirmed to PEOPLE that the nuggets were only offered for a “limited time"

In December, Taco Bell announced its first national foray into chicken nuggets alongside a lineup of dipping sauces: Hidden Valley Fire Ranch, Bell and Jalepeño Honey Mustard. The company was first spotted testing the savory snack in Minneapolis in 2023 and Houston in 2024.

While Taco Bell’s initial press release said the nuggets were only available “while supplies last,” customers are still going online to share their discontent.

“I miss the chicken nuggets,” one Reddit user posted. “They were so good!! It disappeared so fast…”

Another replied: “Yeah. These tasted better over any other fast food nuggets.”

In December, PEOPLE had the chance to try the nuggets before their wide release. The chicken was tender and juicy with a delicious and crunchy tortilla coating. The sauces welcomed repeated dipping and complemented the chicken.

“Offering menu items for a limited time allows us to create room for even more craveable creations for fans,” a representative for the chain told Allrecipes. “But we never say never when it comes to the chance of a permanent spot on menus.”

Taco Bell is no stranger to bringing back highly requested items. In October, the fast-casual Mexican restaurant announced a line of retro menu items — all for less than $3.

Earlier that month, they brought back the Double Decker Taco after being bullied online. The chain returned the item after an X user, @scottinthe503, called them “cowards.”

Even famous Taco Bell fans have voiced concerns about discontinued menu items. In 2022, Doja Cat posted a now-deleted TikTok with a catchy jingle praising the Mexican Pizza. Victor Kunda, a TikTok creator, later reimagined the tune as a musical. Enough pressure built that Taco Bell announced the return of the menu item in May 2022.

Doja Cat announced the return of the Mexican Pizza during her Coachella performance that year: "I brought back the Mexican Pizza, by the way."

"She literally dropped the mic with the HOT news of the Mexican Pizza's return this May," Taco Bell added in a release.
