This 71-year-old female bodybuilder is the only workout inspiration you need

Josefina Monasterio has some seriously impressive abs. And thighs. She’s also 71 years old. The Venezuelan woman has been impressing her younger counterparts in the bodybuilding ring for the past decade. At the age of 59, she decided to take up weight lifting. Now, she is one of the oldest muscle women in the world. Of course, getting a body like Josefina’s takes a lot of work. Her daily exercise regime includes a six mile run followed by a three mile jog followed by a three mile walk. If that’s not enough, she also embarks on a morning of yoga as well as her beloved weight lifting. The bodybuilder’s diet is also on the healthy side. She always eats a good breakfast (usually consisting of oats) before she leaves the house, snacking on fruit and ending with a hearty meaty meal. The 71-year-old – who also has a PhD in Adult Personal Development and is a certified yoga therapist – regularly posts inspirational videos to her thousands of Facebook fans . She says that her mission is to help others realise that they can achieve anything – if they only put their mind to it. We’d hire her to be our life coach any day. Is Beet Juice the Secret to Staying Young?

Beets are a common sweetening ingredient in the juices you’ll find at most health food stores, but a recent study found another reason to drink the bright red juice: It has anti-aging benefits. Researchers at Wake Forest University knew that exercise has positive anti-aging effects on the brain, and were looking for ways to increase those benefits. “What we showed in this brief training study of hypertensive older adults was that, as compared to exercise alone, adding a beet root juice supplement to exercise resulted in brain connectivity that closely resembles what you see in younger adults,” W. Jack Rejeski, co-author of the study, told EurekAlert.

'Morbidly obese' woman drops 126 pounds and becomes fitness model

A woman from Aarhus, Denmark, who was once classified as “morbidly obese” after tipping the scales at 268 pounds, now works as a physical trainer and sportswear model after dropping more than half of the weight in a period of four years. Mathilde Broberg, 22, lost the excess pounds partially by cutting out junk food, exercising avidly and following the “teaspoon diet,” where she measured out her food and ate with a teaspoon to ensure that the portion sizes weren’t larger than the size of a flat-out hand.

13 ways to reduce your risk of developing diabetes

In a nutshell, diabetes is a lifelong condition that makes someone’s blood sugar levels become too high. And while you can live a relatively normal life with it, it’s much better to try and prevent it. There are two main types of diabetes – one and two. But only Type 2, which 90% of UK adults with diabetes have, can actually be prevented.
